"Breath becomes compromised by stress, disease, and the environmental trappings
of the progress; you can still breathe under this pressure, but it leads to poor breathing habits that slowly whittle away at your health."
~ Jill Miller Yoga teacher and best-selling author
The last two weeks of March turned out to be much different than I expected. Make a plan, they said...
Our bucket list trip to Skoki Lodge was incredible (scroll down for pictures)! Unfortunately, somewhere in the travels (one too many high-touch areas!), I picked up Covid.
It threw me for a loop - fever, cough, aches, pains, awful
fatigue.
And then I gave it to my partner...
Coincidentally - or not? - I started studying Jill Miller's Body By Breath textbook just before we left for Skoki. Boy, did that ever come in handy! I had a lot of good food for thought while coughing up a lung.
Then a new research articleon lung movement and immunity landed in my inbox as I was getting over Covid. , do you believe in coincidences?
This article talked about a brand new study at Harvard Medical School, where scientists created a human lung chip - a device that replicated the function of a lung air sac. They used the lung chip to prove that movement is how our lungs resist being overtaken by
viruses.
I'm passionate about all things movement, but this was a whole new level of moving. Down, down, down the rabbit hole of breath => lung movement => immunity => digestion => nervous system regulation I went...
I'm still at it, obsessively digging in the deep.
Lots more on lung mobility - and what it has to do with a well-functioning, ache-free neck and shoulders - in the weeks to come as I connect the dots for myself.
In the meantime, enjoy the pictures - and Happy Easter!
