, discover how you can do all three in just an hour a week!
Hey ,
The Spring Yoga Session started last week, so I thought I owe you an update on what we're doing in classes. Here is your sneak peek into the Satori yoga room.
This spring, I have designed yoga classes around three fundamental pillars, each carefully selected to respond to students' needs and enhance their overall mobility and well-being.
Find Targeted Relief for Sciatic and Low Back Pain:
Backs tend to be sore this time of year after the long winter of inactivity. In this yoga session, we will pay special attention to relieving sciatic and low back pain. We will integrate various poses and sequences that gently stretch and strengthen the muscles
supporting these areas. We will use mindful movements and alignment cues to alleviate tension, enhance flexibility, and reduce the fear of movement.
Reduce Neck and Shoulder Tension:
We will also prioritize neck and shoulder health,
areas where many of us accumulate stress and tension. In this session, we will go beyond stretching and relaxation and learn functional movement strategies to eliminate neck and shoulder tension for good.
Optimize Your Breath:
Breath is the foundation of our yoga practice and should be at the top - not the bottom - of this list. This session will focus on a specific breathing technique called Waterfall Breathing.
Waterfall Breathing boosts the overall volume of the chest cavity and improves the elasticity of the rib cage, both essential for developing better
shoulder stability. It also enhances the movement of the diaphragm - which, in turn, builds a stronger core.
This diaphragm-to-core connection is especially important for women. Because of changing hormones, women's bodies are prone to fluctuations of weight and pressure in the pelvis and abdomen.
Many women respond to these fluctuations by developing tension in the diaphragm and abdominal muscles, which leads to poor breathing habits, digestive upset and urinary incontinence, to name a few.
