Hey ,
Happy Wednesday!
As the days grow shorter and the stillness of winter settles in, I'm taking a pause from writing and teaching evening classes to rest and recharge, just as nature does in this season of darkness.
Over the past two decades of teaching yoga, I've experienced my fair share of ups and downs—OMG, the downs! Teaching yoga is one of those high-burnout professions, and that's why so few of us make a career out of it. These days, I'm much more intentional about creating healthy life-work boundaries, and this break is a part
of that practice.
Rest and recharge doesn't mean sitting still.
During this time, I'll be hitting the slopes with my kids
(hope my strength training finally pays off🤞), having cookouts with the famjam, and finally making way through my long book list - I don't seem to have any brain space left for reading when I'm teaching the full schedule. More than anything, though, I'm supremely excited to be a student of yoga again - I'm catching a few fantastic courses in December.
I hope you’ll also find moments to slow down, move gently, and enjoy the simple pleasures of winter. I’ll meet you again in the new year with fresh ideas, and until then, may this season offer you space to breathe, soften, find joy, and join me in embracing rest as a form of strength.
