A new Core RESTORE 5 - week session is starting this coming Saturday.
In a true Satori style, this class works around the clock: on the mat (of course!) with deep stability and awareness work, and in-between classes with structural homework, off-the-mat challenges (use your gluts to double
step the stairs in your house!) and additional why and how info.
In class:
We spend mat time to build awareness of alignment, breathing, and, of course, the core muscles.
We learn to isolate and engage those difficult to access (and often sleepy) muscles.
We start recognizing when and how we compensate:
Do I use my back muscles to move my
leg?
Am I using my neck to walk?
Am I gripping my breath instead of using my gluts?
You might be surprised to find out how often these compensation patterns pop up, even for active and physically fit people who believe they are moving well. Risking the chance of boring you to tears I'll repeat myself yet again: muscles need to be of appropriate length and strength to support the integrity of our joints,
adequate blood circulation and nerve supply. Poor alignment, incorrect muscle recruitment and compensation patterns are at the foundation of joint deterioration, persistent pain and our not-so-graceful ageing.
Once we've built the awareness, we teach our bodies to move correctly.
We get stronger and more stable - on the mat and everywhere else.
Here is what one of previous session participants
said:
"I found your class and instructions easy to follow. I was very surprised to discover what I was using (my compensatory mechanisms) rather than proper muscle utilization. I am really looking forward to the next session."
