thank you for attending June 3 FREE! Pain Care Yoga class

Hi ,

Thank you for attending Satori's FREE! Pain Care Yoga class!

Please note that you will be receiving class follow up whether or not you were able to make it to the class.

Weekly class follow-ups that explain the how's and the why's behind the practice – along with a good post-class sleep – are truly a Satori trademark. I hope you get a chance to experience them (especially the sleep part!).

This post-class e-mail will explain some of the in-class practices - I often find that UNDERSTANDING why we did what we did is equally important to the active practice itself. We will also lay out a map for "what's next?" question.

Here is what we did in class and why:

Body sensing and rolling:

~ fascia, your body's connective tissue network, serves as peripheral nervous system super highway. Much of what you feel physically is relayed by the well functioning nerve endings laced through the scaffolding of the fascia.

We've used ball work to bring our attention to sensations in different areas of the body, as well as to decompress, untangle and hydrate congested tissues.

Breath Work:

~ persistent pain changes the way we breathe.
We hold our breath when we move or getting ready to move. More often than not,  we hold our exhale. With time, this pattern of holding or uneven breathing becomes ingrained - we simply no longer aware of how we breathe.

Breath awareness as well as simple breathing exercises help us rediscover our breath and use to mindfully influence our physical body and the mind in a positive way.

I have created a special "BECOMING PAIN FREE" guide - it includes the latest pain research data (in a readable format!), and also thoughts, ideas and a road map for how to start moving forward from where you are.

Joining a Class:

Many of you have asked about joining a Satori class. As you know, right now we are smack dab in the middle of a spring yoga session.

However, there's limited room available in some classes - including both Pain Care Yoga classes (on Tuesdays at 7:45 pm and Saturdays at 10:30 pm).

Summer classes run on an abbreviated schedule - weekly offering is slimmed down to Pain Care Tuesdays and Ball + Yin Wednesdays. Exact schedule can be found here.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining a class - and also which class you'd like to join - and I will do my best to accommodate your needs.

Current class schedule (till the end of June):
Tuesdays:

6 - 7:30 pm Gentle Beginner Yoga
7:45 - 9:15 pm Pain Care Yoga
Saturdays

9 - 10 am Core Restore
10:30 am - 12 pm  Pain Care Yoga
Thursdays

6 - 7:30 pm Corrective Movement Yoga
7:45 - 9:15 pm Ball + Yin Yoga
See you on the mat:)
