Balancing water - KIDNEY Meridian

Published: Wed, 07/05/17

Hey ,

This summer we are blending a Traditional Chinese meridian approach with a dash of Ayurvedic magic (Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system), guided meditations, visualizations, and of course the good old neuroscience bit for persistent pain and stubborn tension management.

July marks our exploration into the nature of water element to balance Kidney and Bladder meridians.

Try this water balancing visualization for your lower back:

1. Touch the lowest back ribs on both sides of the body.

2. Now find the top of your pelvis with your thumbs - we usually call these "hip bones." Trace around from the front of the pelvis and all the way back toward the spine.

3. Visualize the muscles between the bottom back ribs and the top of your back pelvis as a sheet of rain. Think of your bottom (12th) rib as a sprinkler providing this downpour on to the pelvic crest - that's where the pelvis meets the spine. Both sides provide an equal shower of water.

Join us on the mat ( Pain Care classes on Tuesdays and Ball + Yin classes on Wednesdays) for more watery goodness - all summer classes are run on class-by-class basis so you don't have to register for a several week session.

Have a great week!

And, as usual, see you on the mat!
