FALL 2017 | CORE RESTORE | Session 2 | Week 5 | Integration Week

Published: Fri, 11/24/17

Hey ,

It is integration week!

Integration week means we put a pause on new information - sometimes trying to absorb all the new info feels like drinking out of a fire hose - and focus on deepening the practice.

We've collected everything that we so far covered in the Core Restore class in one convenient location - right here - so you don't have to search through your inbox.

I also wanted to answer a couple of questions from this week's post-class chat:

Q: Can I come on another day if I happen to miss my Wednesday class?
A: You bet, 100%. There are classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm and 7:45 pm - you are welcome to come to whatever class fits your schedule. Tuesday and Thursday 6 PM classes would be closest to Core Restore practice.

Q: What about the next Core Restore session? I don't want to repeat the same thing again.
A: I never ever teach the same class twice. The curriculum is tweaked almost daily - as I learn and deepen my understanding of human movement, I change what and how I teach.
I also teach specifically to who is in the class - the group in front of me - and never some randomly preset practice. Each time you attend a new session, you have an opportunity to see / address your stability from a different angle, and also, as your body awareness heightens, to shine a light on deeper lying deficiencies in your movement patterning.

Here is what we covered in this session so far:

CORE RESTORE: Understanding Neutral Pelvis:

Welcome to your first Core Restore - specific e-mail follow up.

Our goals are lofty; our time together time is short. Weekly follow up e-mails are designed to supplement your mat practice; to expand your understanding of core; and to deepen your knowledge and felt sense of the body.

CORE RESTORE: Moving Forward Safely:

In this week's class we talked about applying Pain Care Yoga principles to your practice to ensure that you are moving forward safely.

In order for us to fully employ Pain Care Yoga principles, we need to understand some of the pain science behind them.

Here is the gist of it - I tried to condense it as much as possible, but as you have probably surmised by now, being concise is not my greatest gift.

CORE RESTORE: Stress, Muscle Recruitment, and Movement

Many Satori students have mentioned that their weekly yoga class is the only chance they get to slow down and relax.

Is that true for you, too?

This is why this week we are talking about stress and  - in this class - how stress changes our movement strategies.

CORE RESTORE: Rib Cage Alignment & Why It Matters

Our on-the-mat mission this week has been quite complex: we attempted to move our limbs while keeping our pelvis and rib cage quiet - not an easy task, as you now know...
We will continue our "search and engage" mission next week.

Today's e-lesson is about the rib cage - how we carry it, and why it matters.
