Should I go left, should I go right?
Whenever I am in the mountains, this question is never too far from my mind - all because I know, with exact certainty, that taking the wrong trail can
lead one on a wild goose chase (and often through a disenchanted forest), which, in wilderness environment is never a safe proposition.
In September of 2008, exactly 10 years ago, I was introduced to PAIN CARE YOGA at a Vancouver Yoga Conference. This short introduction was that proverbial fork in the trail that - thank mercy! - has Changed (yes, with a capital C!) how I practiced yoga and
pointed me in the right direction.
You see, , before that introduction I viewed yoga as primarily a movement practice. Of course the teacher trainings I've attended prior to 2008 had exposed - to a degree, anyway - the other health benefits of yoga. However, the emphasis then has always been on asana - the postural part of yoga practice.
PAIN CARE YOGA changed that.
Pain care yoga has really brought to light the ancient roots of yoga as a powerful nervous system tonic. Diligently practiced, and coupled with mindfulness, it can restore, revitalize, and strengthen the nervous system, reducing ( and for some - eliminating) persistent pain, anxiety, insomnia
and other nervous system disorders.
Many of you have come to Satori by the way of FREE! Pain Care classes, and I know that for many of you these classes were also a fork in the road...
These FREE! classes were my attempt to show Grande Prairie community the true possibility of yoga as a healing tool, to see
beyond stretching and movement, and - basically - to give yoga therapy a chance.
I am grateful that so many of you chose to do so!
Nowadays every single class I teach is - in one way or another - informed by pain care yoga philosophy.
Whether it is a structural yoga therapy approach class, like core restore, or a more nervous system targeted ways of pain care practice, and even my life off the mat: everything that I say and do is now colored by and viewed through the lens of pain care yoga.
In other words, PAIN CARE YOGA has become an overarching umbrella of that sustains and
supports me, and enriches my life and work in ways I never thought possible.
Over the many years that I've studied, practiced and taught pain care yoga, I've accumulated a large library of tools that extends way beyond what I can share on the mat and in my writing.
The time feels right to expand the classic
Satori FREE! class offering so that we can draw - together - from the full range of benefits that pain care yoga philosophy has to offer.
