Today's follow up is a dynamic-trio of important items that can help you get the most of your yoga practice - both in and outside the class.
Included are:
~ some logistical items
~ links to on-line curriculum for Core Restore and Pain Care classes
~ Yoga Question Of The Week - that's where we are going to start today and for as long as I have your questions coming.
Yoga Q of the Week:
I know that your time is precious. A big - HUGE - thank you to all those of you who took time to fill out Introduce Yourself QR and asked some excellent yoga questions.
Awesome folk in Advanced Core Restore class asked:
Q: What's this session's mantra is going to be?
A: Bring your weight over your heels, relax your knee caps, move from bigger joints first.
More on all of the above in the weeks to come!
Class Resources:
1. Are you serious about getting the most out of your yoga therapy balls?
Join me on Saturday, May 4, 4 - 6 PM for
FEET | ANKLES | KNEES - ball + yin clinic
Instant pain relief + happier walking is a guarantee.
2. There are several Meditation and Ayurveda booklets at the studio - you are welcome to borrow them to learn more about these modalities.
I will also include more information about these as we continue to move along.
3. On-line curriculum:
Some of you are already aware that Pain Care and Core Restore classes come with an on-line curriculum. The need for the on-line component came from the same place as these weekly round up e-mails: there's simply not enough time in each class for necessary pain / movement education and coaching, and it is the combination of understanding and felt experience that works best.
Over the last several years I've written a number of resource articles to help students in these classes understand what is happening in their bodies, and why we are doing what we are doing on the mat.
This winter my super-hero virtual assistant Sarah and myself put all that together into an on-line resource library. Those of you who have been with Satori for a while will notice that there is no Intermediate or Advanced Core Restore Method on-line curriculum as of yet - that bit is my summer project:)
Here are the links to the first set of lessons:
Pain Care Yoga | e-Lesson 1 | Pain As An Alarm System
Core Restore | e-Lesson 1 | Moving From The Hip
There's a list of downloadable resources there as well for your convenience. We will be adding to it as we go along.
Last, but not least: you don't have to belong to a certain class to access these materials. Pain management info is just as relevant to you if you attend Ball + Yin or a Corrective Movement class, and core stability is just as essential to reducing back pain as it is to better performance.
