I see Gabi, my psychologist once a month or so.
I used to prefer in-person visits. Just cause, you know... it felt more real or something.
Well, November came and we had to move to phone appointments.
I discovered something very intriguing.
I felt so much more relaxed on the phone. I was able to stay with difficult feelings without trying to change the topic to escape. I could even hold a pause in our conversation - pauses are uncomfortable for me - for a little longer.
When I asked Gabi why that was, her answer didn't really surprise me:
" Your nervous system feels much safer in your home environment, with the cat purring right beside you. Sense of safety gives you a solid foundation from which to explore difficult emotions with more curiosity and less fear."
What a concept!
Many of are craving the yoga studio space right now.
The real connection. Real place. Real people. I get that.
What if this forced temporary on-line sojourn has gifted us with a unique opportunity to really be with ourselves, with our own energy, in our own space?
What if this is a gift, not a curse...
The all-on-line Spring 2021 Yoga Session starts this week!
