Good morning lovely yogies,

and happy April. This is just a short note (I decided not to send on on April fool's day, just in case) to remind you that spring session yoga classes are starting the week of April 7th.

Here is spring class line-up:

THERAPEUTIC YOGA FOR BEGINNER STUDENTS:
on Tuesdays in April, May and June @ 7:40 PM

Anyone can practice yoga. Satori Therapeutic classes are the embodiment of that statement. Come all, come as you are... achy, sore, stiff, tight... wound right up, or exhausted...This weekly therapeutic class meets every student exactly where they are - physically, mentally, emotionally. We use breathwork and mindfulness to calm the nervous system, and reduce chronic pain (most students report best nights of sleep after these classes). We move carefully and gently to improve range of motion and stability.
THERAPEUTIC YOGA FOR BEGINNERS is for students who deal with muscle / joint pain and major movement restriction on a daily basis. Chair pose modifications are offered to students who are not comfortable with mat practice.

THERAPEUTIC YOGA FOR BEGINNER AND EXPERIENCED STUDENTS:
on Thursdays in April, May and June @ 6 PM

Through breath, we invite our bodies to unravel. We ask our joints and muscles to move in a healthier, more balanced way. We find true, sustainable stability - stability that doesn't ask your body to tighten, stability that doesn't shorten your breath. The result? Visceral understanding of how faulty posture, movement, and stabilization habits can create persistently tight shoulders, low back, unstable pelvis or a "twinge" in the knee; embodied learning and real-life movement strategies to get you out of tension-filled rut.
THERAPEUTIC YOGA FOR BEGINNER AND EXPERIENCED STUDENTS
is geared toward new students wishing to establish safe movement patterns before attending a regular yoga class, and also for those who experience stiffness, tightness or discomfort on a daily basis.

HATHA FLOW FOR BEGINNER STUDENTS:
on Tuesdays in April, May and June @ 6 PM

From simple to complex, from slow to a faster-paced... With its intelligent sequencing and relaxed flow, this class is a perfect introduction to safe asana practice. We use elemental actions (such as rooting through the feet, engaging the core, or properly activating our quads) as refined building blocks of complete postures.
HATHA FLOW is designed for beginner students, and also excellent for experienced practitioners wishing to polish their movement patterns to prevent common yoga-related injuries (knee strain, hamstring tears, shoulder damage.)

WEEKLY DETOX 80/20:
on Sundays in April, May and June @ 5:45 PM

Breathe in, breathe out... move, move, MOVE... then quiet down, sink deeper into delicious twists, and let your vital organs rehydrate and rejuvenate.  To thrive and function optimally, human bodies need both activity and rest. This class, with its 80/20 structure, takes full advantage of detoxifying essence of movement, and activity/rest principle.
WEEKLY DETOX 80/20 class is designed for both beginner and experience students with the urge to move, and desire to perk up their metabolism and lose unwanted inches and pounds.

CORE+STRENGTH HATHA FLOW:
on Thursdays in April, May and June @ 7:40 PM

Iyengar inspired and vinyasa powered, this class combines elegant alignment principles with powerhouse sequencing to create fluid strength and challenge compensation-free core engagement.
CORE+STRENGTH class is best suited for experienced students who wish to deepen their understanding of asana practice and experience yoga as an inward-oriented journey both on, and off the mat.

YIN YOGA:
on Mondays in April @ 6:30 PM

Deep and delicious... Could be wine, could be pizza... could be a yin yoga class. This yin yoga class is a full-bodied introduction to yoga postures that slowly melt the tensions, and to the depth of your body-mind interactions. Feel your thighs sinking slowly towards the earth. Soften even more between your shoulder blades... and let your heart melt onto the mat. Breathe, and release the tightness...What happens in your mind as you hold this pose?
YIN YOGA is excellent for both new and experienced students who prefer slower pace, longer held postures, and ample time to explore the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) activity of their minds. Therapeutically, yin yoga is used for injury rehabilitation, fascial re-patterning, and maintaining optimal range of motion.

SPRING SESSION MASTER CLASSES:
HEALTHY FEET on Sunday, April 27, 3:30 - 5:30 PM; HIPS, CORE and MORE on Sunday, May 4, 3:30 - 5:30 PM

These two master classes have been simmering and bubbling on the back burner for a while now, and some wise Satori yogis have already enrolled themselves in. As I have mentioned in March e-hug #2, spring is the time when over-use and downright abuse injuries run rampant. You don't want to spend your summer nursing plantar-fasciitis, sore knees, tight hips, or any other common and yet very avoidable afflictions, do you?
Contrary to popular belief, these classes are not just for "master yogis." They are designed for common folk - walkers, runners, hikers, people with sore feet, achy knees, and tight hips; and also for practitioners who take care of folk with sore feet, achy knees, and tight hips. In Satori hallmark style, we'll look at the why's and the how's of aches, hurts and pains: the why's being postural imbalances, faulty movement and stabilization patterns; and the how's - well, that's the nuts and bolts of how to take care of your moving parts so that they are operating at their best in the long run and on the long runs.

AND THE LAST TIDBIT FOR THOUGHT: the more active you are, the more you use your body (well, you know this, of course); the more you use your body, the more you are prone to "wear and tear" injuries. The more impeccable your movement and stabilization patterns are, the less chance you have of developing those wear and tear injuries. Just sayin'...

As per usual, you can register on-line, by e-mail, phone @ 780.512.7573, cash, check, or even e-transfer, and I am always open to arranging installment payment option. Spring is the time to shake off winter's lethargy and fly (or walk, run, bike, paddle, and yoga) - see you on the mat.
