Welcome to this week's Friday Round-up.
This is kinda funny: when I switched classes from 75 to 90 minutes I thought we'd have sooooooo much time to touch on all the important points of the practice. Now (again!) I feel like I am constantly running out of time and much of the important stuff is left behind. Hence these
e-mails....
Case in point - last week's FEET conversation:
In classes we talked extensively about our foundation - the feet, and how the health and alignment of our feet has a direct effect on the rest of our anatomical structure.
I would've really liked to do the full "FEET PRACTICE" so that you can have a direct experience of a more
spacious feet and its effect on the rest of the body. And then I ran out of time.
So instead, the full "FEET PRACTICE" (well, actually only about 50% of the full practice - but that's a start!) is included here. Try it out if you want to improve the health of your feet, ankles, knees and hips.
I'll throw this on the table as well: do
e-mail me if you'd be interested in doing the FEET CLINIC - I'll schedule it if there's enough interest to run it.
This week (as promised!) we started on ball-ing the upper body - neck and shoulders; we also added some functional movements to reduce computer induced neck and shoulder pain. I feel we need to do a bit
more in-class practice before I send out an at - home worksheet. Next week, perhaps.
Yoga and Emotions:
This week a student shared with me that one of the in-class poses has become an emotional trigger.
First and foremost, THANK YOU for sharing!
I think this is one of the most important conversations we can have: how do
we approach the emotionality of yoga practice (and really, of being a human) with sensitivity that allows us to move forward rather than suppress, bury, and bottle up our old stuff.
I need to sit with this before I am able to verbalize my thoughts; in the mean time I would really love to hear your experiences, thoughts and opinions on the matter - please
share what you have to say.
Enjoy your weekend!
