welcome to MINDFULNESS IMMERSION WEEKEND

Published: Fri, 09/30/16

Hi ,

Thank you for registering for Introduction to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction / Mindfulness Immersion Weekend. We are so excited you are joining us!

Here are a few  ideas and suggestions to make your Weekend experience more fulfilling and help you get the most out of this training.
Where to go:

This weekend classes are held at #200, 9914 - 109 Ave.
Studio is in the brick building kitty corner from KFC plaza on 100 St, behind old Wild Bill's/ new Forward building. We are directly above Colon Hydrotherapy and Wellness Center. Use the second floor access right next to the wellness center; studio is the very first door on the second floor.

What to bring:

The studio is fully stocked – we will be supplying mats, bolsters, blankets and chairs. You are welcome to bring your favorite meditation cushion or any other support/ padding to be more comfortable.

Please bring a notebook / journal and a pen in case you would like to take notes. Some of the course printouts and worksheets will be provided. Remember to bring your water bottle, snacks and anything else you need to be comfortable for the duration of classes.

What to wear:

Please wear loose clothing: even though we don’t have a formal yoga practice on our agenda, movement breaks are included throughout the weekend.

Being on time and late arrivals:

We aim to start and finish each session sharp on time. However, we also welcome the element of live discussion in each one of the segments; depending on the amount of questions and discussion the Saturday afternoon segment session may run as late as 5pm.

Please plan to arrive 5 - 10 minutes before the start of each session so you don't feel rushed, and have time to relax and get settled.

If you happen to run late, please be as quiet as possible. You don't have to knock on the door, but please take your shoes/ jacket off before entering the room, so there's as little disruption as possible. Find a mat,
sit down and spend a few minutes with your eyes closed before joining the class.

Questions:

All and any questions are welcomed. There are no silly questions. The more you participate in the class, the more you will benefit from your practice, so please ask away.

Scents:

Please avoid wearing any scents / perfumes to yoga class. There are several students with chemical sensitivities that get severe headaches from scents. Also, there is usually a dozen of us practicing together in a fairly small space - imagine what kind of chemical soup we would be breathing in if each of us was wearing a perfume.

Cell phones:

Ideally we recommend disconnecting from the frenetic on-line world for the duration of the Immersion - creating the space that is free from constant information overload will allow you to benefit from this course so much more. It is best to leave your mobile device, no matter how attached you are to it, at home. If that is impossible, please leave it in your vehicle.

Lunch + Snack Time:

Several short bio-brakes have been scheduled throughout the weekend to make sure everyone has enough time for bathroom breaks, nourishment and to move around.

We've blocked out a longer than usual lunch break for Saturday so that those of you who want / need to go home for lunch can do so without feeling rushed.

There's also an option of bringing a bagged lunch for Saturday and staying with the group for a traditional silent lunch (around 30 - 45 minutes) followed by mindful activity.
